River fishing report for Vancouver BC – Feb 15, 2015
Vedder Steelhead report:
Thankfully the deluges of rain have ended! The Vedder – Chilliwack river in the Fraser river valley has had it’s fill with muddy high water for about 2 weeks now. The GOOD news is that river levels are dropping and clarity is getting ideal! When one hears that magic line “Steelhead green” we’re off and packing all our gear into the truck and hittin’ the river for some fresh metal! The Vedder has been pumping out some nice Steelhead over the past few days. It should be super all week. For those who can take a day off we highly recommend a guided Steelhead fishing trip this month and next.
Fraser river Sturgeon fishing report:
The Fraser river does not have very many Sturgeon anglers at this time of year. However Sturgeon fishing charters are doing very well due to the warmer weather this winter, er springter. Double digit Sturgeon counts are common for fish averaging 3-5 feet and the odd bigger fish up to 8 – 9 feet. All the common winter baits like uncured roe, oolies, eel, worms will work. Fraser Sturgeon fishing is Catch & Release ONLY. All fish MUST be handled with care. Please read the Sturgeon Fishing Best Practices guide. Our Fraser river Sturgeon guides follow and recommend these guidelines.
Bull trout fly fishing just north of Vancouver typically picks up early March as the Salmon fry emerge from the gravel. We love these fly fishing trips that offer superb fishing and scenery just 50 minutes from downtown Vancouver. Our guide service provides hotel pickup, lunch and all equipment.
