So you want a British Columbia fishing holiday on the Fraser river?

Here’s why our Fraser river fishing holidays are a big hit!

I would like to keep this post short and neat. To the point so to speak. First of all there are many points to consider when booking or planning out your BC fishing holiday. Let’s go over a few.

Prime fishing location

We base our Fraser river fishing packages in Mission which is a small town just 60 minutes east of Vancouver. Mission is a river town. What’s nice about Mission is that everything is nearby. Our guests stay mainly in the Best Western which is about 1km from the river where guests board our jet boat. Within a 5 minute walk from the hotel one can find restaurants, shops, pubs, and major outlets for food and general merchandise. Everything is nearby! And we are ideally located to take advantage of all the great fishing. The Vedder and Stave rivers are just a few minutes away by boat. The Harrison river boat launch is only 25 minutes drive.

Incredible fishing!

Make sure the fish stocks are healthy. How have they been over the past few years? Here on the Fraser river we have had some very impressive Salmon runs return over the past 10 years. Every season brings something good. The only exception was the poor return of Fraser Sockeye in 2009 which left many people extremely worried about the future of Fraser river salmon. The  Sockeye rebounded and are just 1 out of 5 Pacific salmons. In 2014 there was another massive return of Sockeye. All the other stocks have been very solid especially Fraser river Pink Salmon which have been returning every odd numbered year in the 20 -35 million range since the early 90’s. Our Fall Salmon fishing is quite solid and at times epic! We are expecting another big year in 2015 with a huge Pink salmon run and good returns of Chinook and Coho salmon. Sockeye may be open in 2015 also.

Fraser Sturgeon fishing

fraser river sturgeon fishing, sturgeon fishing bc, mission sturgeon fishing  Fraser river Sturgeon fishing has been a big hit every year. 2014 was a super year for us. The catch and release program has really paid off since it’s implementation in the mid 90’s. It’s common for us to catch White Sturgeon in the 5 to 7 foot range(75 – 200 lbs) and fish up to 1,000 lbs are encountered yearly. Getting these fish to the shore is where luck and patience are big factors. Big fish know a thing or two about winning. Sturgeon fishing is healthy year round. Peak times for big energetic fish is June to November.

Customer service

We take care of our guests. We don’t leave you wondering about anything. Owner Brian Mack entered the BC sportfishing tourism industry in 1992 when he worked at Rivers Inlet Lodge. He continued to work at other world renowned fishing lodges like Hakai Pass and West Coast Resorts in Haida Gwaii where he learned about customer service and professionalism. We hold these standards very high today. That’s why you’ll never be left in the dark. When you book your package with us we take care of hotel reservations and much more. Our services include airport transfers, hotel to river transfers, fully guided river fishing with premier fishing tackle, boat lunches, photo and video taking, and we’ll supply airline approved fish boxes too if you need them. Helpful tourism info is always available too. We just don’t believe in leaving you guessing.

Our BC sport fishing industry experience

We have over 25 years of sport fishing experience on the Fraser river and all it’s tributaries. We are very confident in what we do and our results speak for themselves. Our expertise covers all the popular methods from Sturgeon fishing to fly fishing for Salmon, Trout and Steelhead. There’s a job to do and we offer the fish little hope! Sorry fish, nothing personal.

Here’s an example of a typical experience with us:

Our chief customer service gal Louise meets you at Vancouver International Airport as you enter the public area with your luggage. You load your bags into a vehicle suited for your group size and you’re off on a approx 70 minute drive to the Best Western Plus – Mission City Lodge. Louise will make sure you are checked in and everything is in order before she leaves. She will go over the itinerary for the following days including pickup time. You hang out, eat, maybe go for drinks, sleep and you’re up early next morning ready to go!

We pick you up from the hotel(unless you decided to rent your own car) and take you to the boat launch according to our pre scheduled start time. You board one of our custom jet boats. The guide goes over the safety protocols and talks about the plan of attack. You fish and play fish and have a lot of fun for 8 hrs. Sometimes we fish more than 8 if the fishing is slow. Sometimes less if people have sore arms and want to have an early start at dinner! Who wouldn’t get sore arms after battling a 300 lb monster Sturgeon? or many of them. After a grand day on the river we head back to the dock and then back to the hotel. If you have Salmon that you want to keep we’ll clean and bag ’em for you. The hotel has a freezer for your catch until they are ready for packing into those travel boxes. If you ordered airport transfers we will get you there in time for your departure flight.

If you are looking for the ultimate river fishing experience we invite you to join us on the Fraser river, British Columbia, Canada! There’s nothing like it on Earth!
